Melissa Cole still remembers the shelf Where theWild Things lived on at her childhood library.
She remembers Narnia too, because she read about it over and over and over again.
There was a long time when she didn’t read children’s books. (Many adults make this mistake.) And then she started reading them again because books for young people are the best kind of books.
Now Melissa writes books for young people. Also not so young people.
She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and gets regular deliveries from her local independent bookstore. When she’s not writing, parenting, or doing yoga, she can probably be found walking a hound in her home town of Asheville, North Carolina.
